This year's 53rd issue of Akita Shoten 's Weekly Shonen Champion magazine will announce on Thursday that Masami Kurumada and Shiori Teshirogi 's Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa manga has an original video anime version green-lit for next spring.

The manga industry is increasingly becoming a showdown between the haves and the have-nots. Among the haves, of course, would be Viz. As I noted last week, Viz will be rolling out even more "Naruto," capitalizing on what's been an audience eager to read more adventures about the titular ninja and his friends and rivals.

Mantan Web, the special interest website of the Mainichi Shimbun paper, has revealed that the newspaper's Mainichi Kāsan (Daily/Everyday Mom) gag manga by Rieko Saibara will be animated for broadcast television next spring.
