It's late afternoon, and a group of school children crowd into a bookstore, poring over popular manga, including "Naruto," "Nana" and "Vagabond." In Japan, the scene would be commonplace, but this is San Francisco.

The New York Anime Festival, which will be held at New York City's Javits Convention Center on December 7-9, will be featuring a maid cafe, open for the duration of the convention.

Anime network KIDS STATION has announced that they are developing a series of thirteen 5-minute anime shorts based on the Ichigo Ichie series of stationery products. The series was originally developed by stationery company Mindwave.
