Hiroshi Mikami portrays a father trying to prevent the death of his young daughter, which he saw foretold in a mysterious newspaper a few moments before it was to have happened. In the best Japanese tradition, PREMONITION builds its terror in a measured but chilling fashion, revealing just enough to make us lose sleep at night.
Based on the cult comic book "Newspaper of Terror." From the creators of The Ring, The Grudge and Dark Water.
This film tells the story of Princess Yuki (Yumiko Shaku), of the House of Takemikazuchi - once a force of noble guards for the Mikado elite, but now an exiled and disgraced band of assassins, willing to take on any task for the right price.
Yuki is a ruthlessly efficient member of the clan, paid by the authoritarian government to eliminate members of a rebellious insurrectionist group. But when a mysterious stranger tells Yuki the truth about her mother's death - that she was killed by a member of the House of Takemikazuchi - Yuki confronts the killer and, after a fierce battle, is forced to flee. A troubled young man named Takashi (Hideaki Ito) comes to her aid. But Takashi is wary, for he works with the rebels whom the Takemikazuchi have targeted for elimination.
Gradually, Yuki and Takashi come to terms with one another. But the threat of the Takemikazuchi looms - they will not tolerate the departure of one of their own, and they are closing in...

Legendary director Akira Kurosawa re-imagines Shakespeare's tragic King Lear as a singular historical epic set in sixteenth-century Japan. Tatsuya Nakadai (The Sword of Doom, Kagemusha) stars as Lord Hidetora, a warlord who cedes authority over his vast dominion to his eldest son, setting off a familial power struggle for control of his kingdom. Majestic in scope, Ran is a visual masterpiece in which Kurosawa contrasts the immensity of war with the crumbling of one family under the weight of betrayal, greed, and the insatiable thirst for power.

Rebellion! The political and cultural tumult of the 1960s shook Japan as it did the rest of the world. Japanese filmmakers responded to the changing times by disguising themes of dissent in the traditional form of the swordplay film, or chanbara. Previously populated by heroic samurai, self-sacrificing ronin, and historical figures who exemplified noble Japanese virtues, the genre began embracing a new kind of hero, or antihero: the lone outcast, distrustful of authority but maintaining a personal code of honor.
These four classic films, from four masters of Japanese cinema, turn a genre upside down, redefining for a modern generation the meaning of loyalty and honor as embodied by the iconic figure of the samurai.
Includes the following films: Samurai Rebellion Sword of the Beast Samurai Spy Kill!
Mifune Toshiro (Shogun, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo) and Iwashita Shima (Harakiri, An Autumn Afternoon) star in this hilarious epic of a man, a plan, and a large red wig!
Directed by Okamoto Kihachi (Samurai Assassin, Sword of Doom)
