It's Ranma like you've never seen it before! You've seen the animated series. You've read the manga. But do you really know everything about Ranma?
Presented in English, the book combines both the original artwork by acclaimed manga artist Rumiko Takahashi and character information on nearly every outrageous character that graces this series: Shampoo, Mousse, Ryoga, Akane, Genma, Happosai and more!
Also included are detailed charts on every love triangle both boy and girl-type Ranma has been involved with. Plus information on the dizzying array of martial arts featured throughout the series. Then, take a walkthrough of Ranma's typical day and see how he fends off fanatical suitors and still gets his homework done.
You'll love the pages of beautiful, full-color, full page artwork of all your favorite characters in watercolors, pastels and colored pencil.
Ranma is an exceptional martial-artist. Trained by his father, he has travelled all over Japan and China in the attempt to hone his abilities. Unfortunately, he also has an unusual problem... whenever splashed with cold water, he turns into a girl! What's worse, now it seems his father is pushing him into an arranged marriage. Poor Ranma...
Akane gets all sorts of magical power-ups, first when Shampoo feeds her some magical Chinese steamed treats, then from some soba noodles that give her super strength. What she didn't count on were the disastrous after-effects.
The search for the magical soap which offers a cure for the Jusenkyo curse continues; the malicious application of some strength-depleting a moxa (you know, that stuff the acupuncture types burn on their patients to relieve various sufferings) puts Ranma in an embarassing position; and finally, late-night training sessions in the wilds of Japan with Cologne (and Akane, and Ryoga) give Ranma the chance to learn his most powerful move yet: the Hiryu Shoten Ha, a.k.a. "Heavenly Dragon Ascencion Wave"!
Ranma at last manages to get off the Hiryu Shoten Ha, the "Heavenly Dragon Ascencion Wave" or "Dragon's Heaven-Blast," albeit without... certain... consequences; Shampoo attracts a new suitor by means of a twin-set bell; Akane takes swimming lessons from Principal Kuno, Furinkan High's own "Big Kahuna"; and finally, Genma (in his panda form) gets a new little friend... not to mention some pretty sweet free eats.
"You're the only man I consider my rival, Ryoga..."
The "Mark of the Gods" (actually a doodle representing a school of martial-arts calligraphy) is now upon Ryoga, and the only way he can lose the doodle is to lose a fight - hopefully to Ranma!
Fox Fu, Feline Fu, Flat-Frog Fu - not one of Ranma's "ultimate desperation strikes" seems to be working! For Akane, it's just too crazy to believe that P-chan may secretly be Ryoga! Better use some extra-hot water to wash that doodle off P-chan, though, just in case...
The legendary Dragon's Whisker! Described by a reluctant Ranma as the "seal" that keeps something "terrible" from happening, four steamed little buns have come all the way from Qinghai Province, China, in search of it. But what can it be?!
Ranma wants it... the martial-artist buns want it... Genma wants it. It looks like a simple pigtail-holder, but it's got to be more than that. According to Cologne, once hair kept bound by the Dragon's Whisker is gone, it's gone for good. Ranma's really cutting it close, this time.
Ooh, le horreur! A stranger's shown up at school and he's eating everyone's lunch. Meet Picolet Chardin II, master of the tres terrifying "La Belle France School of Martial-Arts Dining." It turns out that Soun and Genma - as they've been known to do, once or twice - have promised one of their children in exchange for a debt, and now that debt's come due.
A style of martial arts based on eating doesn't seem as though it would be all that difficult to master... but, then again, the size of the mouths in Picolet's family barely seem even human! If Ranma can't defeat Picolet at his own game, it'd be more than "La Belle France" - it'd be wedding bells!
The theft of the "Visitor's Registry" from the Jusenkyo Guide in Qinghai Province is only the start of the tragedy for Ranma and the others... but, for the unfortunately named "Pantyhose Taro," it's going to be the end!
Over 10 years ago, a pregnant woman gave birth at the cursed springs of Jusenkyo. A quick dunking into a nearby spring by Happosai - where a yeti-riding-an-ox-whilecarrying-an-eel-and-a-crane drowned 2,500 years ago - seals the fate of the bouncing baby... um, demon... and now it's out for revenge!
Arrogant swordsman Kuno is found with amnesia and a watermelon on his head... and all of a sudden he's stronger than Ranma! Can Ranma and Akane find out what happened to him... on an island inhabited by nothing but watermelons?
Then, 10 years ago, Ukyo prepared a special okonomiyaki sauce that Ranma secretly ruined. Now, out of guilt, Ranma agrees to let Ukyo stay at the Tendo house, setting the stage for a showdown with his other fiance Akane!
Plus: Gosunkugi gets his hands on a set of magic paper dolls that can make his beloved Akane do anything he wants! And to top it off: dirty old man Happosai returns!
Ryoga has been in Hokkaido training for his next encounter with Ranma and this time he's learned a technique that blows the competition away - literally! It's called the Shishi Hokodan, or "Lion Roar Shot," and it allows one to emit a ball of destructive ki from their hands, but only if the user has a heart full of sorrow and regret. Can Ranma dig himself into a pit of despair deeper than Ryoga to master this new technique, or will he taste defeat for the first time?
Then, Shampoo's been cursed by a lonely cat ghost to stay a feline forever! The only way to break the spell is to receive a kiss from her beloved before New Year's, but one thing stands in Ranma's way - a horde of cats!
Enter Ryoga! Having been snubbed by Ranma, he's out for some serious payback - and much like Ranma, has trained all his life in martial-arts technique. With lots and lots of brute strength, he could definitely cause problems for Ranma - but what could Ranma have possibly done that would make him hate him so?
